"Let the Lord of Chaos rule."

I was reading a thread where someone said they didn't want to buy Trinity because it was too expensive, so I was going to suggest he buy vanilla sins instead, and I went off to provide a link to it...except its not there anymore. Is it now impossible to buy original Sins, without any expansions? All I saw was Trinity, entrenchment, diplomacy, and an entrenchment and diplomacy bundle on the website store.

Unfortunately the vanilla base game has been pulled in favor of Trinity. You may still be able to find just the base game available at retail, which can then be registered within Impulse for download/updates.

Garg, why? Are you forcing people to pay $20 more if they only want vanilla?

It makes sense to stop burning DVDs for the base game.  If stores only have the shelf space (or will only give you the shelf space) for one title then it might as well be the Trinity pack.

The Target here has one copy of the original Sins for $20 (and no Trinity).  The Walmart down the street has one copy of Trinity..

That makes sense, but he seems to be referring to the online store.

So wait- if you buy a retail copy of the game, you can register it on Impulse and have it as a downloadable title? Or did you just mean the updates?

I'm looking at 4-pack of games (GalCiv 2 Ultimate, Darkstar One, SoaSE, and some other game) for $24 and it's probably far more economical for me to go that route if I can just download it. I'd normally want the case/manual for my games as part of a collection, but with the PC, I'm starting to see the wisdom of DD.

Awesome. Will purchase as soon as I'm done typing this message...which is now...as soon as I write the period. Period.

Curious- does GalCiv2 work this way as well?

Yes.

One thing to note is, you cannot just grab any retail version of a game that we have in the Impulse store and register it on Impulse. This only works with games that we develop/publish and a handful of games that use our GOO system of protection/activation.

How does GOO work? I have heard good things about how it works, and that people are unable to pirate Stardock games.
